First of all, can I just say this is stunning? The pure white of the flower gives an impression of hope and new life, in a desolate, broken world. The blurring, dark background gives a sort of post-apocalyptic sense, of a world destroyed. The simplicity of the flower seems to symbolise that we can start again, from something so small, bringing our planet new life. The angle of the shot is good, as it shows us the details inside of the flower, which draws the eye. The rocks in the background seem to glow slightly, which is a lovely effect, and could also mabye show us that nuclear bombs are the reason for the destruction? Well, I hope this critique was useful in some way ^^
BACKGROUND First off, I'll note that the dark, blurred background gives a feeling of a destroyed, desolate world. It very nicely goes in contrast with the brightness of the flower. The way that the darker, thin lines criss-cross across the background makes it seem like there's smoke behind the flower, further adding to the feel of a world driven to the ground. I love the way that the blue fades into black around the border, however, making it just a bit more gradual would have added an effect of there being a pinhole of light far away.
MIDDLEGROUND The rocks, I would not change anything even if I could. The bioluminescent feeling of the rocks adds a nice radiance to the picture and almost an ethereal feeling. I love the slight distortion as the rocks grow closer to the flower.
FOREGROUND The flower is stunning. White petals with a hint of blue give an impression of purity against the darker background. Seeing the tiny details of the flower's center draws the eye to study it more intently. There's one thing I noticed when I was looking at it more intently, though; stare at the picture for a moment and let your eyes drift out of focus. You should notice that once a viewer is not trying to look at little details, but rather the photo as a whole, the way the edges of the flower are in a stark contrast against the dark border is a bit distracting. The picture as a whole gives off a very sensual, calming vibe, but when the flower seems harshly cut out, it lessens that feeling. The lack of shading on the farther ends of the flower gives it a bit of a 2-D feel.
I hope this (long) critique was useful in some way ^_^
